Diabetes is one the common disease of aging people. Now a day it is also shown in teenager and young people. Many people are worried as they are suffering from such non curable disease. What is Diabetes?

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors  as a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood glucose levels that result from defects in the body’s ability to produce  insulin or use insulin properly. This could be due to lack of  insulin or  insulin that is available is not working effectively.

Diabetes mellitus

The name diabetes is the shortened form of the full name diabetes mellitus. It derived from the Latin word mellitus meaning sweet or honeyed and the Greek word diabetes meaning siphon. It was known as “pissing evil” during the 17th century.

Types of diabetes

When we know about diabetic information, we must know about types of diabetes. There are 3 types of diabetes:

1. Type 1 diabetes

2. Type 2 diabetes

3. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Type 1 Diabetic information: The body does not produce insulin. Some doctors may refer to this type as insulin-dependent diabetes or early-onset diabetes. It usually develops before their 40th year, often in early adulthood or the teenage years. Approximately 10% of all diabetes cases are type 1. Patients with this diabetes will need to take insulin injections for the rest of their life. Without taking insulin regularly, people with type 1 diabetes will die. Type 1 diabetes often develops suddenly.

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes are:

  1. Abnormal thirst and dry mouth
  2. Constant hunger
  3. Sudden weight loss
  4. Frequent urination
  5. Extreme tiredness/lack of energy
  6. Blurred vision
  7. Slow-healing wounds
  8. Recurrent infections

 

Type 2 Diabetic information: Body with Type 2 diabetes does not produce enough insulin for proper work, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin (insulin resistance). Approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide are of this type.

Some people may be able to control their type 2 diabetes symptoms by: monitoring their blood glucose levels,  doing plenty of exercise, losing weight  and Following a healthy diet . But type 2 diabetes is typically a progressive disease. It gradually gets worse. The patient will probably end up have to take insulin in tablet form.

Drinking i very harmful for the people with type 2 diabetes,  just one can of  soda (non-diet) per day can raise our risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 25%.

Although the main causes for developing type 2 diabetes are still not known, there are some important risk factors. These factors contains:

a. Family history of diabetes

b. Obesity

c. Poor diet

d. Physical inactivity

e. Increasing age

f. Ethnicity

g. Poor nutrition during developing child.

Information about Gestational diabetes: occurs during pregnancy. Some pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but who have high blood sugar levels have a risk of developing Gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes affects about 4% of all pregnant women.  These mothers may go on to develop type 2 diabetes after childbirth.

Now a days many people suffering from diabetes mellitus. So everyone must have a clear concept about diabetic information. According to the information about the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) the number of people living with diabetes is now put at 371 million, up from 365 million a year ago, with numbers expected to reach 550 million by 2030.
