Fever is a common and usual illness of a human. It is not a significant disease in the human body, but in most time it the symptoms of other diseases. Though there is nothing to worry more for the fever, but it should be treated. Everyone should know about the common fever symptoms, its causes and its treatment. What is fever?
Fever means the elevation of body temperature from the normal human temperature. Usually, a man’s body temperature is about 98.6. When the normal body temperature raises about 1 F or more, then it is considered as Fever. In medical science, the body temperature that is not above 100.4 F, is not considered as fever. Any temperature elevation that is below 100.4 F is considered as the low-grade fever. Technically, fever occurs to defense the virus and bacteria that cannot live in such higher temperature. It is just a kind of illness, which is not more important than joint pain, cough, nausea, aches, fatigue, soar throat, etc.
Cause of the fever:
The main cause of fever is the response of the immune system. Our body immune system starts to respond when the foreign invader comes to attack our body. These foreign invaders are bacteria, viruses, drugs, fungi or other toxins, which is known as the substance of fever. These are also called as pyrogens that activate the body immune system. Pyrogens invite the hypothalamus to fight against the infection through increasing temperature. It is the common symptom of most of the infections. Immunizations or teething cause low-grade fever in the children. Cancer, seizures, medication reaction, autoimmune disorder is also the cause of fevers.
Symptoms or signs of a fever
Fever causes an uncomfortable situation in the human body. There are several symptoms of fever. Below are some fever symptoms.
- The body temperature will increase more than 100.4 F in children and adults.
- Chills, shaking or shivering.
- Pain in joints and muscles.
- Irregular sweats.
- Increase the palpitations or rapid heart rate.
- Blushing skin.
- Feeling weakness, dizziness, faint or lightheaded.
- If the temperature is higher than hallucination, confusion or convulsions may occur.
How fever can be diagnosed?
Fever can be diagnosed through fever symptoms, and measuring temperature with a thermometer. The temperature that is greater than 100.4 F is considered as a fever both for children and adult.
The treatment for fever
If the fever doesn’t cause of much discomfort, then the fever should not be treated. For the usual fever you can take medications from your home. Generally, Acetaminophen it is used for low-grade fever. But, for children it should be recommended by a child’s pediatrician. The adult person who doesn’t have liver disease can take a 1000 mg tablet after every six hours. Ibuprofen is also effective to break fever who is over 6 months of ages. An adult person can take 400mg-600mg tablets after every six hours. Aspirin is another common medication for fever. But, it should not be used for a child or a adolescents.
